In the City of Brotherly Love they find plenty to squabble about. Who's  best: the Phillies (2 World Series):the Sixers (hall-of-famers Wilt  Chamberlain, Charles Barkley, Julius Erving): the Eagles (2 Superbowl  appearances); or the Flyers (second best all-time wins in the NHL)?  Generally, these conversations take place between bites of delicious  cheesesteak, a source all its own of controversy: What makes one  authentic? What kind of cheese to choose?

Who makes the best?

On this they agree: The cheesesteak was invented in South Philadelphia in  the 1930’s. According to Wiki, ”The meat used is thinly sliced rib-eye  or top round although other types are used. On a lightly oiled griddle  at medium temperature, the slices are quickly browned then scrambled  into smaller pieces with a flat spatula. Often, the steak is placed on  top of already slightly fried onions. Some vendors forego the chopping,  serving their sandwiches with the slices of steak in the whole form. In  Philadelphia most cheesesteak places use Amoroso rolls, white american  cheese, mozzarella, provolone and cheez wiz are the most commonly used  cheeses.”
